Position Title: Billet Handler – CC
Reports to: Senior Technician – CC

JOB PURPOSE: To operate and closely monitor continuous castingplant equipmentin billet handling area to achieve the production plan according to standard work procedure and instructions, and to inspect the machine andproduced billet to ensure that it is conforming to Qatar Steel Standard specification.
Description:
Technical Operations
- Operate and follow routine billet handling activities; TCM, billet cross transfer car, turn over cooling bed operations according to standard work procedures and work instructions from direct supervisor through available resources; Operating control desk &HMI.
- Prepare casting machine during sequence break; crop buckets dumping, TCM nozzles check and clean to make the machine ready for next cast start within the available time limit.
- Support and take part during any operational troubles; TCM cutting failure, billet cross transfer car trip, cooling bed hydraulic misalignment or withdrawal unit motor fault …etc. with other group members in identification and rectifying the problem in a timely manner either during planned or unplanned stoppages.
- Carry out routine inspection of produced billets for physical and surface defects, if any nonconforming product was observed, report immediately to Shift Supervisor or billet handling senior technician to take the necessary actions according to standard work procedure.
- Carry out routine inspection, adjustment, checking and cleaning of equipment on daily basis so as to ensure unplanned plant and process interruptions are minimised.
- Carry out routine, on the job equipment maintenance and minor repair and identification and communicate other maintenance / repair needs to the Shift Supervisor or billet handling senior technicianfor further communication to the Maintenance Department
- Support Maintenance personnel during the planned shutdown period, working as a team to repair/overhaul plant equipment in order to ensure that casting machine is operating to both the highest possible safety standards and maximum efficiency an ongoing basis.
- Follow the monthly maintenance routine and non-routine activities to ensure that casting machine is operating to the highest possible safety standards and efficiency on an ongoing basis.
- Communicate clearly with operators on the next shift about current operation conditions to ensure that the shift is handed over with full and clear information.
- Conduct any additional tasks as required by the Management / Superiors.

JOB PURPOSE: To operate and closely monitor continuous casting equipment to achieve the planned production targets followingstandard work procedure and instructions, and to inspect and timely prepare the machine equipment during sequence break.
Description:
Technical Operations
- Operate and follow routine casting operation activities; mould, ladle & tundish operations according to standard work procedures and work instructions from direct supervisor through available resources; operation station panels, HMI, thermocouples…etc.
- Prepare casting machine during sequence break; preparation of dummy bar, mould sealing, tundish replacement and mould change to make the machine ready for next cast start within the available time limit.
- Support and participate during any operational troubles; ladle nozzle chock, tundish nozzle chock, breakouts, metal overflow from mould, billet early disconnection …etc. with other group members in identification and rectifying the problem in a timely manner either during planned or unplanned stoppages.
- Carry out routine inspection, adjustment, checking and cleaning of equipment / tools on daily basis in order to ensure unplanned plant and process interruptions are minimised.
- Carry out the monthly maintenance routine and non-routine activities in order to ensure that casting machine is operating to the highest possible efficiency and standards on an ongoing basis; cooling chamber attach metal cutting, spray headers nozzles replacement and/or cleaning, tundish car launders and overflow/emergency box cleaning and repair with castable…. etc.
- Support maintenance personnel during the planned shutdown period, working as a team to repair/overhaul plant and/or equipment in order to ensure that plant/equipment is operating to the highest possible standards on an ongoing basis.
- Communicate clearly with operators on the next shift about current operation conditions to ensure that the shift is handed over smoothlywith all clear information.
- Inspect and prepare spare tundish and moulds prior to sequence break to minimize machine preparation time and perform Lifting/ shifting of consumable materials and spare moulds to/from the casting floor.
- Identify and report immediately any problem or abnormality in running equipment or process, to allow appropriate, prompt corrective action to be taken.

JOB PURPOSE: To operate and monitor Electric Arc Furnace equipment’s safely to support achievement of production plan through the timely production of liquid steel under instruction of shift Supervisors/senior technician
Description:
Technical Operations
- Operates and controls furnace equipment during the heat cycle (charging, melting, de-slagging, refining, tapping and furnace set-up for next heat cycle) to ensure that EAFis operated safely and smoothly within set parameters from both main pulpit operation desk & tapping pulpit operation desk.
- Arrange the required materials (gunning, fettling, sand filling, electrodes, temperature tips, etc.)& tools for shift operations under the shift supervisor guidance.
- Plan with teeming crane operator &Perform EF electrodes changing &connection under direct guidance of shift supervisor.
- Furnace refractory inspection after tapping process & applying hot repair whenever required based on shift supervisor guidance
- Perform EBT refractory sleeves changing. (Demolition and fixing new one), shell change during shutdown and delta roof change.
- Do the slag door cleaning & levelling activity by the charging machine.
- Communicates with SCL & charging crane operator for arranging scrap basket as per instructions received from his shift In-Charge.
- Act as signal man for charging crane for safe and efficient scrap basket charging process as per SOP.
- Collect required samples (e.g. slag, DRI, lump lime, Dolo-lime,) and transfer them promptly to the QC lab in order to ensure that SOP’s are followed and material quality is fulfilled.
- Do the routine monitoring of FTP & MHS functioning & report for any abnormalities for direct superior.
- Carry out routine inspection,checking and cleaning of equipment to ensure unplanned interruptions are minimised.
- Perform monthly/yearly shutdown activities (e.g. shell replacement, cleaning activity) in order to ensure that plant/equipment is operating to the highest possible standards on an ongoing basis.
- Prepare regular information reports (e.g. daily log sheet, PMMS report) as requiredin order to share the information with all the levels.
- Record inspection results to ensure that plant and equipment data is available.
- Report abnormal observations and measures to shift supervisorto ensure appropriate remedial action and / or planning of future maintenance activity.
- Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate statements and reports to meet department requirements, policies, and quality standards.
- Prepares regular information reports and data and special reports as required from time to time.

Position Title: Melter LF

JOB PURPOSE: To operate and monitor Ladle refining Furnace equipment’s to support the achievement of the production plan through the timely production of conforming finished product or work in progress under instruction of Supervisors.
Description:
Technical Operations
- Operates and controls Ladle furnace during ladle treatment (controls movement of roof, electrodes & ladle car, and Fe-alloys/ flux additions).
- Performs temperature measurement & collect steel & slag sample and delivers them to QC for chemical analysis.
- Inspects equipment’s & machineries in shifts on time-to-time basis & if observes any abnormal or breakdown informs his shift In-Charge.
- Arranges materials on shop floor required for production in shift & also ensures material availability for next shift start up.
- Communicates with crane operator & SV for arranging ladle as per instructions received from his shift In-Charge.
- Communicate clearly with operators on the next shift about current plant/equipment operation and conditions to ensure that the shift is handed over with full and clear information.
- Connects/disconnects purging hose in EF LTC, LF LTC & purging station to/from the ladle.
- In case of abnormal situation in MHS, executes manual alloy additions upon receiving instructions from shift In-Charge.
- Carry out routine off-line activities like, electrode connection/adjustment, roof cleaning, LTC cleaning, delta checking, etc. in order to ensure unplanned plant and process interruptions are minimised.
- Support Maintenance personnel during the annual planned shutdown period, working as a team to repair/overhaul plant and/or equipment in order to ensure that plant/equipment is operating to the highest possible standards on an on-going basis.
- In case of emergency, take all necessary countermeasures and contact appropriate staff as laid down in SOP’s in order to ensure that any risk to personnel, plant or process operation is minimized
- Identify and report immediately any problem, discrepancy or abnormality in equipment or process, to allow appropriate, prompt corrective action to be taken.
Reporting
- Prepares regular information reports and data and special reports as required from time to time.
- Bring to the attention of the senior technician / LF plant supervisor the items to be included in the planned shutdown in order to ensure planned shutdown time is used effectively.

JOB PURPOSE: To demolish / remove worn or damaged refractory materials, to reline / repair refractory materials at various facilities. i.e. EAF, deltas, ladle Covers, rolling mill, lime plant, settling chamber and miscellaneous area, and any other refractory area if it is required. To operate concern refractory machinery and tools.

- Follows and implements verbal or written instructions from his supervisor and uses the necessary materials, and tools to execute the required refractory work.
- Ensure appropriate refractory machine is good operational condition before use. Example like mixing machine, brick cutting machine, rammers, refractory tools, spray machine, continuous mixer machine, remote / pendent cranes, slings
- Receive new / used equipment like EAF refractory shell, delta, ladle, covers, and ancillary units from operations. Keep then appropriate stands / designated places and allow them to cool up to room temperature. Provide cooling equipment like air blowers based on the requirement. After cooling demolish the used refractory / dust/ slag / steel skull and clean them. Relocate them in appropriate place. And receive the EAF, ladle, deltas, covers, settling chamber and miscellaneous area
- Repairs / reline the refractory materials based on the instruction of his refractory superior with appropriate type refractory bricks and castable etc. as per standard drawings or given design. If necessary put on driers for ladle / tundish/ covers for drying.Set and align the template for vibrating the ladles/ tundish moulds based on the requirement. Hot repair is also part of the in EAF, ladle, furnace, deltas, covers, rolling mill, lime plant, settling chamber and miscellaneous area within safe working practices. Also, ready to work in EAF, ladle, deltas, covers, settling chamber, tundish and miscellaneous area
- After job completion, clean all machines, tools and work areas.
- Communicate clearly with technicians on the next shift about current activity, equipment operation and conditions to ensure proper hand over or the shift with full and clear information.
- Communicate with production and/or maintenance personnel to execute the maintenance plans without affecting the production plans and maintain the activities without production lost.
- Collect and finalise operation data and transfer it to clerical support to enable the measurement, control, and reporting of refractory activity.

Position Title: Repairman Slide Gate

JOB PURPOSE: To prepare and check a new / circulation / standby ladles for EF tapping to avoid abnormality of ladle during transfer the molten steel. To maintain the Hydraulic slide gate system work properly in order to keep a smooth casting. To maintain the purging system work properly for produce the homogeneous steel.
Description:
Technical Operations
- Follows and implements verbal or written instructions from his supervisor and uses the necessary materials, and tools to execute the required work.
- Check and ensures the availability of consumable refractory materials required, e.g. collector nozzle, inner nozzle, slide gate plates, porous plugs, IPV nozzle, nozzle filling materials, mortars and cements, etc. Also check and ensure for stand by mechanisms and operational consumable metallic spares. Request to senior technician and shift supervisor to arrange as necessary.
- Clean metal from ladle lip, shell, slide plate bore, nozzles, and also porous plug using an oxygen lance. Clean slag jam from ladle lip, shell with the help of cleaning tolls and hand tools. Ladle / steel pot / slag pot slag cutting /cleaning.
- Prepare new / circulation / standby ladles to resume into operation by physical inspection as per SOP standards. Fix the mechanism as per SOP standards. Check & inspect all ladle refractory condition and mechanism condition and IPV purging pressure condition, steel passage nozzle free open condition. Physically monitor the ladle inside temperature and shell temperature as per SOP standards. Replace / repair all refractory materials / mechanism based on the SOP. Fix and check that refractories and mechanism are in good seal, locks in position during new fixing or replacement or before sending to next heat on day to day basis. Alternately terminate the ladle from operations for full preparation as per work standards.
- Ensure that ladle is suitable for EAF tapping. Fill the nozzle filling compound in LV11 system as per work standards.
- Do maintenance of fluid control in ladle and tundish, and auto purging mechanism at workshop in offline area to keep it ready for operation requirements.
- After job completion, clean all machines, tools and work areas to maintain the good and clean housekeeping.
- Ensure all operating, safety, environment, and quality procedures are followed to ensure the highest standards of operational integrity are achieved and maintained and in case of non-compliance in ISO 9001 internal audits.
- Communicate clearly with technicians on the next shift about current activity, equipment operation and conditions to ensure proper hand over or the shift with full and clear information.
- Communicate with production and/or maintenance personnel to execute the maintenance plans without affecting the production plans and maintain the activities without production lost.

JOB PURPOSE: Directly involve and also monitor/supervise for preparation of mould and mould related parts. alignment of foot rollers, new mould tube fixing, oil lubrication pipe line fabrication etc. to keep and maintain the mould in ready condition.

- Check and ensures the availability of tools and consumables at working platform. Request to Plant supervisor to arrange as necessary.
- Check and involve for removal of metal sticking, scales and dirty particles from received mould jackets from CC operation. Check and involve for maintenance of mould preparation with the help of gas cutting, welding, grinding and mould assembling as per standard drawing and SOP standards.
- Organise in shift and also get involve in preparation new / circulation / standby mould jackets to resume into operation by physical inspection as per SOP standards. Operate jib crane by using remote control to do the job whenever it is required.

Technical Operation

- Identify and segregate scrap contamination materials such as non-ferros, non-conductive, oversize, airtight and explosive in order to maintain safe supply to EAF.
- Monitor and control outsourced Logistics and operatives to supply different materials at various locations to meet the requirement of Steel Making and ensure that raw materials are supplied without any contamination that may harm, interrupt or reduce quality.
- Prepare, receive and provide scrap basket in a sequence dumped with safe hanging condition as per the basket schedule pattern.

- Validate emergency communication channel over TMR with HSE team and maintain effective communication with co-worker and supportive team through TMR to run the smooth operation.

Position Title: Panel Operator –Water Treatment

JOB PURPOSE: To operate and monitor water, air and gas utilities equipment, plant and processes in order to support the achievement of uninterrupted utility supply to the Steel Making and Rolling Mill production plants.
Description:
Technical Operations
- Operate and monitor equipment’s of EAF/LF/CCs & Rolling Mills Water treatmentwithin set parameters of quantity & quality to ensure that Steel making and Rolling Mill production are achieved as planned.
- Take and record readings of running equipment and daily operating conditions, perform standard data analysis and record all data in specified log sheets according to set operating procedures.
- Identify and report immediately any problem, discrepancy or abnormality in equipment or process, taking prompt corrective action as appropriate in consultation with the senior technician.
- Check, control and record chemical dosing for each cooling water system as per the plan. Witness and record all the chemical additions in respective tanks/basins by the chemical contractor personnel.
- Carry out all the scheduled activities like changeover of equipment, lubrication of the pump’s bearings, cleaning of the suction filters of air compressors, collecting water samples,backwash of super filters, regeneration of softeners, trial run of the equipment after overhauling.
- Ensure emergency equipment like Diesel Engine driven pumps for Steel making and Rolling Mill and Fire Fighting are regularly checked, run and maintained in order to ensure it is kept in good working order at all times
- Communicate and coordinate clearly with the Steel Making and Rolling Mill shops for any issues related to the supply of any utilities and also inform/involve the Shift in Charge as required.
- In case of emergency, take all necessary counter measures and contact appropriate staff as laid down in the operating procedures in order to ensure that any risk to personnel, plant or process operation are minimized.
- Communicate clearly with operators of the next shift about current plant/equipment operation and conditions and hand over the shift and equipment with full and clear information of the situation.
- Ensure the persons (maintenance/contractors) working in the respective plant are adhering to the work permit system and are following all the safety precautions mentioned in the permit.
- Carry out routine inspection, adjustment, checking and cleaning of equipment in order to ensure unplanned plant and process interruptions are minimised.
- Carry out routine, on the job equipment maintenance and minor repair and identify and communicate other maintenance/repair needs to the Senior Technician or Shift Supervisor for onward communication to the Utility Maintenance/Electrical Maintenance team.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the control room and carry out proper housekeeping of the plant

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Technical Diploma (Mechanical/Chemical) from any reputed institute/university.
Minimum Experience:
- 3-5 years relevant work experience in Utilities gases supply, Compressed air Station and Cooling water treatment plant of Steel Making & Rolling Mill Plants/Process operations

JOB PURPOSE: To receive, prepare and carrying out testing of quality control samples from production units and to provide quick and accurate test data in PMMS/ERP and to the production in order to ensure conformance to quality standards.
Description:
Quality lab Testing Operation
- Ensure collection or receipt (as appropriate) and preparation of samples for testing or analysis, ensuring that collection and preparation methods strictly comply with set procedures.
- Perform chemical analysis of samples, by automated and/or bench testing methods, ensuring that testing procedures and methods are strictly followed.
- Record test results, perform standard data analysis and record all data in specified logbook, check sheets or PMMS system according to set operating procedures and maintain other documentation in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO/IEC 17025 to ensure that all the records are accurate and up to date.
- Report test results to the relevant department, ensuring that results are clearly communicated within the required timescales, in order to inform production for decision making.
- Perform non-routine tests on special samples, proficiency testing programmes and/or competitor products as requested in order to inform and support production and commercial decision making.
- Prepare standard chemical solutions for use in the testing of reference materials, ensuring that preparation methods and procedures are strictly followed, so that analytical results can be relied upon.
- Cross check sample results, with the aid of reference samples, between chemist and/or test equipment according to set schedules and procedures in order to ensure the accuracy and repeatability of tests. Maintain the results of CRM material analysis in excel datasheet in order to carry out statistical analysis.
- Carry out regular calibration/ standardisation of test equipment as per schedule & results are recorded (& backed up in server) in order to ensure ongoing test accuracy and reliability.
- Carry out blind testing (& results are stored for statistical analysis) on calibrated test equipment, with the aid of reference samples, in order to ensure the reproducibility of analysis between all responsible chemist.
- Carry out routine inspection, adjustment, checking and cleaning of test equipment in order to ensure ongoing test accuracy and reliability is maintained.
- Carry out routine, on the job equipment maintenance and minor repair and identify and communicate other maintenance / repair needs to the Senior/Plant Supervisor for onward communication to the Engineering & Maintenance Department.
- Communicate clearly with analysts on the next shift about current testing activity, equipment operation and conditions to ensure proper hand over or the shift with full and clear information, update the log sheets. During any abnormality communicate effectively and timely with superiors.
- Participate safety meeting, company safety patrol, desk top exercises and monthly HSE safety patrol, fire drill and environment audit in order to ensure any HSE operating issues are understood and appropriate corrective action is taken
