JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: METALLURGICAL ENGINEER
DEPARTMENT: STEEL MAKING SHOP REPORT TO: PLANT HEAD SMS
A. AUTHORITIES
1. To take appropriate decision & action in accordance with the situation arising in the following events: –
Non-conformance observed at any stages during production.
Emergency situations in respect of production, quality and environment, which recall immediate action.
B. RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To manage the Furnace and Ladle refractory. Monitoring daily production activities.
2. Managing the furnaces with optimized safety and performance and reduced consumption of all alloys, additives etc.
3. Making best charge mix from the available scrap to prepare the heat in minimum possible time and to increase the productivity.
4. Looking after ladles, all materials, additives, alloys, furnace refractory, and ladle refractory.
5. Decision making regarding the furnace and ladle refractory braking/patching, decision making for complicated heats.
6. Coordination with HODs for Planning of maintenance without affecting production.
7. Controlling all shift Activities with strict monitoring of Shift Incharge.
8. Target and initiate action towards less process deviation and zero rejection.
9. Effective planning and process adaptions to reduce per ton cost of steel.
10. Monitor Heat wise cost of various grades and exercise appropriate controls.
11. Monitor the scrap quality and maintain the plant cleaning.
12. Ensuring that ISO technical requirements are fulfilling.
13. Ensuring that the suitable work areas, environmental conditions and housekeeping in the melt shop are conducive to the proper performance of furnace activities.
14. Disposing off expired/waste material of his department.
15. To look after the operation of furnace, ladle shop.
16. Facilitating internal and external quality audits of his respective department.
17. To co-ordinate with QM for appropriate steps for enhancing workman ship quality.
18. Implement the safe operating procedures of the plant.
19. Ensure the safety of the man and machine.
C. APPROPRIATE QUALIFICATION
1. BE with 10 years’ experience in relevant discipline (Metallurgical Engineering).
2. Local / Foreign Training in the respective discipline.
D. COMPETENCE
1. Be able to administratively / technically manage, control and handle the working of Section.
2. Be able to motivate all the employees towards Quality & Environment Management System.
3. Be able to express and communicate the performance reports to the management and other concerned in effective way.
4. Possess effective skill of report writing.
5. Be able to handle emergencies.
E. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Plant Head SMS will monitor the performance as per Company’s policy using the following criteria: –
Technical skills.
Effective administrative control over the employees and utilization of technical skills during emergencies.
Communication skills.

JOB TITLE: SHIFT IN CHARGE CCM
DEPARTMENT: STEEL MAKING SHOP REPORT TO: PLANT HEAD SMS
A. AUTHORITIES
1. To take appropriate decision & action in accordance with the situation arising in the following events: –
Non-conformance observed at any stages during production.
Emergency situations in respect of production, quality and environment, which recall immediate action.
B. RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ensuring smooth operation of the Casting Machine by maintaining all the required operational parameters.
2. To cast defect free billet.
3. To maintain maximum casting speed to increase the productivity.
4. Conducting daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance checks and follow up of production equipment and machine to avoid unscheduled production stoppage.
5. Responsible to maintain all the Parameters in both PLC for operation on Continuous Casting Machines also operational trouble shooting on PLC for smooth and trouble free casting.
6. Responsible to check the quality of materials used at CCM.
7. To inform store and procurement department in case rejection of materials.
8. Submitting Daily Production Report of Caster.
9. Responsible to eliminate any kind of physical defects in Billets related to CCM.
10. To raise PR by keeping in view operational materials used at CCM.
11. To intimate the procurement department for LOX & LPG refilling in time.
12. Controlling the yield.
C. APPROPRIATE QUALIFICATION
1. BE with 05 years of experience, or B.Sc./D.A.E. with 10 years of experience in relevant discipline.
2. Local/Foreign Training in the respective discipline.
D. COMPETENCE
