JOB TITLE: EHS ENGINEERS
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The EHS Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs within the organization. They will work closely with various departments to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, identify potential hazards, and implement effective control measures to mitigate risks. Additionally, the EHS Engineer will be responsible for promoting a culture of safety and environmental awareness throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess risks associated with new processes, equipment, or facilities and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Provide technical expertise and support to departments on EHS-related matters, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety training.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
- Maintain accurate records of EHS-related activities, including incident reports, training documentation, and regulatory permits.
- Stay informed about changes in EHS regulations and industry best practices and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders.
- Lead or participate in safety committees, task forces, or other groups focused on improving EHS performance and culture.
- Develop and deliver training programs on EHS topics to employees at all levels of the organization, the main contractors etc.
- Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as required by applicable permits or regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- BE / Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Min 05 to 10 years of experience in the steel manufacturing industry.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, NEBOSH) are a plus.
- Proven experience in EHS roles, preferably in the steel manufacturing industry.
- Exposure in handling project sites – greenfield & brownfield.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and environmental management practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with various levels of the organization.
- Proficient in using EHS management systems and tools.
